    URL Recommender using Parallel Processing

The main purpose of this project is to section similar news and articles from a vast variety of news articles. Let’s say, you want to read about latest news related to particular topic like sports. Usually, user goes to a particular website and goes through some news but he won’t be able to cover all the news coverage in a single website. So, he would be going through some other news website to checking it out and this continues. Also, some news websites might be containing some old news and the user might be going through that. To solve this, I have developed a web application where in user can see all the latest news from different websites in a single place. Users are given choice to select the news websites from which they want to view the latest news. The articles which we get from news websites are very random and we will be applying the DBSCAN algorithm and place the news articles in the cluster form for each specific topic for user to view. If the user wants to see sports, he will be provided with sports news section. And this process of extracting random news articles and forming news clusters are done at run time and at all times we will get the latest news as we will be extracting the data from web at run time. This is an effective way to watch all news at single place. And in turn this can be used as articles (URL) recommender as the user has to just go through the specific cluster which interests him and not visit all news websites to find articles. This way the user does not have to visit different sites to view all latest news. This idea can be expanded to not just news articles but also in other areas like collecting statistics of financial information etc. As the processing is done at runtime, the performance has to be improved. To improve the performance, the distributed data mining is used and multiple servers are being used which communicate with each other

Particle breakage in sand blasting due to impact on ductile materials

    Get PDF
Cleaning of rust, paint or removing burrs and many other such applications are done by several processes. Sand blasting is one of them, where a stream of sand particles is forcefully projected onto a surface, with compressed air or steam. These sand particles break up into very small pieces upon impact, which are inhaled by workers to cause silicosis. While much research has been done on the surface being impacted, very little research has been done on the particle itself. Hence, proper analytical modeling of the sand blasting process from the particle perspective, validated by experimental results, is required to predict the sand particle breakage.;In the present thesis, a finite element model of the sand particle is developed in LS-INGRID and a transient dynamic analysis is performed in LS-DYNA3D. This study focuses mainly on the propagation of stress waves and the volume loss of the sand particle upon impacting an aluminum plate. Three different shapes of the sand particle and five different sizes with varying impact angles and particle velocities were chosen to analyze the influence of impact. The results of the model showed close correlation with the experimental results of A. J. Sparks and I. M. Hutchings. These results were presented in the form of graphs of dependencies between volume loss and other parameters affecting the impact. It was concluded that 100mum size is the optimum size of the sand particle that increases the safety of the workers performing sandblasting due to its lesser volume loss

The main objective of current thesis is the study of Radial Flux Twin Rotor Permanent Magnet (RFTWTRPM) motor. The tasks were to review the literature about RFTWTPM motors and model the motor using Finite Element Method Magnetics (FEMM 4.0). Later the performance of RFTWTRPM motor as a brushless dc motor was analyzed by using MATLAB/SIMULINK package. To find the electrical and mechanical parameters of the RFTWTRPM motor, the rotor and stator dimensions of the motor were firstly optimized using linear FEMM model of the motor. The optimized dimensions were used to construct the cylindrical FEMM model. This model was later used to determine electrical and mechanical parameters. The electro-mechanical parameters were used in the construction of motor block diagram in SIMULINK. This block diagram was used to test the performance of the motor as Brushless DC motor was analyzed for various dynamic and steady state conditions. It was observed that the RFTWTRPM motor was highly suitable to operate as Brushless DC motor

Radiographic evaluation of posterior tibial slope in ACL deficient Indian patients

Background: There are several studies which have investigated various osseous morphologic characteristics as they relate to ACL injury. Tibial slope, notch width, and notch width index are some. However, there does not appear to be consensus across studies. The aim of this study was to validate association between posterior tibial slope (PTS) and ACL injury in an ACL deficient knee of Indian patients. Methods: This retrospective cum prospective study was done at a tertiary hospital from June 2017 to May 2018. 40 patients were included. Inclusion criteria were documented evidence of ACL tear to the affected knee; no history of osteoarthritis; no history of rheumatoid arthritis; patients voluntarily consented for the use of their radiographs for the study. The assessment was completed with a true lateral view of the knee with full length leg and ankle. The functional tibial slope as described by Julliard et al was used to determine the PTS. The mean and standard deviation (SD) for medial PTS were measured. Demographic data like age, sex were collected and entered into a database. Results: 95% of patients were male. Mean age was 29.25. The mean PTS was 13.037 which is reasonably high as compared to normal while the standard deviation was 4.487 reflecting large amount of variation. Conclusions: Increased posterior tibial slope can be concluded as a significant risk factor in ACL injury which corroborates the findings of various previously published studies. The findings presented may help identify patients who are at greater risk of ACL injury.

Novel Image Fusion Technique Based On DWT & MSVD

Image fusion is the process of combining two or more images with specific objects with more clarity. It is common that in focusing one object remaining objects will be less highlighted. Hence to get an image highlighted in all regions, a different means is required. This is what is done by the Image Fusion. In remote sensing, the increasing availability of Space borne images and synthetic aperture radar images gives a motivation to different kinds of image fusion algorithms. In the literature a number of time domain image fusion techniques where the substitution operations are done pixel value by pixel value. Few transform domain fusion techniques are proposed. In transform domain fusion techniques, the source images will be decomposed, then integrated into a single data and then reconstruct back into the time domain. In this paper, new transform techniques like singular value decomposition will be utilized for image fusion. In the literature, the quality assessment of fusion techniques is mainly by subjective tests. In this paper, objective quality assessment metrics are calculated for existing and proposed techniques. It has been found that the new image fusion technique outperformed the existing ones

Miniaturization of Substrate Integrated Waveguide based Antennas for Microwave Communications

    Get PDF
Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) technology is the most emerging technology for the implementation of effective radiating systems for the future wireless systems. It is a synthetic rectangular electromagnetic waveguide which is formed in a dielectric substrate by densely arraying metalized posts or via-holes which connect the upper and lower metal plates to form a radiating system. SIW antennas are used in many applications in the field of communication systems due to several advantages such as light weight, low production cost, low profile, reproducibility, reliability, and integration with solid state devices. This paper presents the methods of miniaturization of equilateral triangular micro strip antenna based on SIW technology. The performance of the proposed antennas is observed by doing some significant changes to the construction of the patch, substrate and ground with specified dimensions. The coaxial feeding at a specified location is used to achieve better impedance matching and Arlon AD270 substrate having dielectric constant 2.7 with optimum values of substrate heights are used. The miniaturization and performance of the antennas are compared in terms of Return losses, VSWR, radiation pattern and gain. The proposed antennas are designed and simulated using Finite element method based HFSS (High Frequency Structure Simulator) version software

Study of surgical fixation of extra-articular distal third humerus fractures with a posterolateral locking compression plate

    Get PDF
Background: Fractures of the adult distal humerus account for approximately 2% of all fractures and represent a third of all humerus  fractures. Fractures of the distal third of the humerus are challenging injuries due to their peri-articular location, small size of the distal bone fragments, and the osteopenic quality of the bone in older adults.  Aim of our study was to evaluate the clinical, radiographic and functional outcomes of posterolateral locking compression plate for extra-articular distal third humerus fractures through posterior triceps splitting approach. Methods: This is a prospective study done at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Patna  in which 30 consecutive skeletally mature, closed extra-articular distal humerus fractures  underwent fixation with posterolateral  locking compression plate and outcome evaluated in terms of radiological  evidence of healing, functional outcome and complications if any. Results: Use of posterolateral plate results in predictably good union rates and excellent results terms of patient outcome without any implant related complications. Conclusions: We recommend using this posterolateral plate for these humerus fractures, because of its consistent results with respect to fracture union, stability across the fracture site and early mobilization for better functional results

Personal assistant accessible via a telephone call

    Get PDF
Techniques of the present disclosure provide a virtual personal assistant to users via a telephone call. The techniques are especially beneficial for users of feature phones, landline phones, shared phones such as pay phones, etc. A user can dial a telephone number for the virtual personal assistant and is recognized by the number they’re calling from. The user optionally provides a personal identification number (PIN). Once connected, the user can query the personal assistant for information and receive answers. Initially, when the user asks a question, the virtual personal assistant begins the interaction without having user context. With subsequent interactions, the virtual personal assistant learns the context, when user permits. The personal assistant can provide any type of information and interaction, e.g., language learning, music, banking, etc. The personal assistant can also interact with users via short message service (SMS)
